Scorpion Hosts Heart of Florida Leadership Tour
Ocala, FL - More than two-dozen business and political leaders from Ocala and Gainesville, Florida visited the Scorpion Performance facility in Ocala today as part of the 2011 Heart of Florida Leadership Tour. The purpose of the Tour is to promote good will and a better understanding of all that Ocala/Marion County has to offer in a regional approach to economic development.
Hosted by the Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce, the Tour kicked off at their downtown facility followed by a walking tour that highlighted the downtown Ocala commerce and innovation centers with a stop at City Hall and the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition.
After a return walk to the Chamber, a tour bus whisked participants to Scorpion Performance for a tour of their state-of-the-art facility where sophisticated technology utilizing automation and robots produces parts for high-performance automotive and marine engines.
Keith Perry (R), Florida House of Representatives, remarked, “Thank you for taking the time to show us your facility. It is great to see the American entrepreneurial spirit at work in Florida.”
Scorpion Performance is proud that its products are made in the USA. Scott Reynolds, Vice President Marketing, commented, “I get phone calls and emails all the time from customers who tell me how happy they are that they can still buy quality products that are made in America. Then they tell me how well our products perform. As always, I thank them for their business.”
At the conclusion of the Scorpion facility tour, Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Jaye Baillie stated, “Thanks so much for hosting us today at Scorpion. You did an excellent job explaining the history and growth of your firm as well as the reasons for your relocation to Ocala.
